Standard Reception & Coverage Areas

Processing Coverage

Our polar orbiter satellite reception station is able to receive data covering a reception area that stretches from approximately 15°S to 70°S, and from 135°E to 140°W.

Presently, sea surface temperatures are routinely retrieved from these data over the region indicated by the box in the diagram. In the future, standard processing will be extended to cover the entire map area.

Reception Area

Our polar orbiter satellite reception station is able to receive data over a region that stretches from approximately 15°S to 70°S, and from 135°E to 140°W.

The image shows coverage over a 220-minute period from the NOAA16 spacecraft on the afternoon of 3 February 2002. The data shown are from the satellite’s 11 mm infrared channel. Here clouds appear in light colours, and clear areas in darker colours.
